Mexican Students Take Immersive Course in London
As a second language, English is one of most widely spoken. Currently, English is used for air travel, and is one of the most common languages in the world of business, technology and academia, among other fields. Whether it is by work, study or pleasure, learning another language increases the communicative reach. Therefore, there is a great interest to enhance these skills.
A group of Mexican students travelled to the British Capital to take part in the first Verano Puma, an immersive English course organised by UNAM UK, Centre for Mexican Studies. Most of the cohort is comprised by undergraduate students of UNAM, but there are others of important Mexican universities such as the IPN. The course began on 2 July and will finish on 21 July 2018. The programme is part of the Summer School at King’s College London.
The students have not only benefited from taking writing, listening and grammar classes, but they have also had the possibility to use these skills in real life context by enjoying the broad range of activities that the British Summertime has to offer.
The first Verano Puma has been a success so far. UNAM UK, Centre for Mexican Studies will continue working to organise future courses for UNAM’s community, as well as the broader Mexican population.
